It’s true- every day we spend in the “happy” column while spending less time in the “fear, anxiety and overwhelm” column is an investment in the life we were born to create.

So if happiness is our birthright, then why do so many of us CHOOSE to be unhappy?

I say CHOOSE because how we show up is determined by us. The thoughts we listen to and the decisions we make lead to us contributing to healing the world or to us adding more pain and suffering to the collective existence. It’s up to YOU.

Only 1 in 3 Americans are happy based on a recent Harris poll.

Frankly, I’m shocked that it’s that high. I’m always hearing friends, colleagues and clients saying  “I’ll be happy when (fill in the blank).” Losing 10 pounds, making $100k more this year or find Mr. Right isn’t the prerequisite for launching sustainable happiness.

My spiritual journey has lead me to a place of understanding how to access the happiest version of me. The version of Dawn who turns off thoughts of the past or cravings for the future. The mindful version of me.

Mindful- how “woo-woo” you may be saying to yourself. Well, not according to 60 Minutes and Anderson Cooper. The recent episode reports on the importance of living in the moment. We’re introduced to Google’s Chief Happiness Officer Chade Meng-Tan and his company’s dedication to driving joy in order to drive the bottom line.

2) Write down 3 things that made you happy today (a warm shower, walk with your dog, cup of coffee)
3) Add to this list throughout the day
4) Celebrate the happy you acknowledged at the end of the day
